Come and develop your knowledge and understanding with this hands-on exploration of ‘what makes a painting look right’. What pleases our innate sense of composition and how do you achieve it within a painting or drawing? Experiment with a variety of structural patterns and see how you can use them to create fresh, original and strong work. Highly experienced and enthusiastic tutor Maxine Relton with guide you through your exploration and analysis of visual ideas using plenty of examples and demonstrations along the way to inspire beginners and experienced artists alike. Bring your own choice of colour materials, be it paints, pastels or even crayons as well as a good supply of paper and prepare to be enlightened and inspired.

Step Up to Salsa!

Join dancing duo Salsa Del Sol for a full evening of Summer spirit and Latin flavour. Salsa is sociable, healthy, cultural and above all fun! Whether you come with a partner or on your own you will be dancing before you know it. Thomas and Anna will lead a fabulous workshop to teach you the basic steps and understand the timing. Dance on your own before pairing up and learn leading and following techniques and progress onto a basic turn. Once you have the moves put them to good use with a Latin party night. Get into the rhythm of the music and use your newfound skills to their greatest effect. The perfect way to kick off the Summer season.

Willow Sculpture

Willow artist Fiona Hingston will lead this instructive and productive day that will give you all the basics in creating a willow sculpture for your garden - it could be a bird, animal or other simple structure, or bring a picture of the design of your choice. The day will begin with an inspirational presentation on the possibilities of willow sculpture. Then after a short demonstration, in which you will learn about the basic methods and plant support, spend the rest of the day making your own piece. All materials provided, just bring secateurs, a flat screwdriver, an apron and of course - lunch!

Dramatic Drawing

Another opportunity to take part in this amazing course that challenges artists of all abilities. Join painter Paul Fowler for a fabulous day of Life Drawing with the model taking to the skies! Use you own choice of drawing materials such as charcoal, graphite, inks and pencil to develop quick fire large format drawings as well as smaller sketches whilst the model holds unusual poses. Produce your own compositions without the confines of the floor; create innovative effects involving balance, trapeze and suspension. A rare opportunity to do something truly different and extend your skills to the next level. Bring your own drawing materials, only large paper will be provided.

Summer Screen-printing

Design and create beautiful fabrics and pictures using the simple technique of screen-printing. Often associated with logos on T-shirts it can also be used to create beautiful artwork and customised fabrics. You will have the opportunity to create designs on both fabric and paper. Limiting your colours and simplifying your shapes can create striking effects. Artists and printmaker Susie Walker will guide you step by step to maximise these effects, show you how to create eye-catching designs with shapes colours and all manner of visual textures. Bring your own ideas and create vibrant prints as repeats or one-offs. How about creating a design for fabric that you can make something out of; a sarong for the beach or a funky new hat. All materials and equipment are provided.

Prema Knitting Group

Knitting is the latest retro craft to have had a makeover and is now an ever-growing hobby sweeping the nation to fulfil our crafting demands. Be part of the local hip-knit community and come along to the new and exciting knitting group that has started at Prema. What better way to get help or tips, share knitting experiences and generally have a chat and a laugh than in a group with like-minded people? You can chat non-stop about knitting and come away feeling inspired. As long as you love knitting then this is the group for you; whether you are a complete beginner or have been doing it for years.
